How to distinguish different kinds of honey?

There are numerous honey products on the market and the prices range from a hundred dollars to several hundred dollars. They all have different colors, active ingredients, floral source of the nectar, origins and efficacies. Here are the two most common honey extract from clean and pollution-free environment at the south island of New Zealand.

Manuka honey

Manuka honey is collected from Manuka flowers that are grown only in New Zealand. Its active nectar of Manuka plants offers its effective antibacterial activity. Since New Zealand has unique geology conditions, it creates a unique natural bee resource that cannot be found in other countries. Manuka honey provides vitamin, minerals and amino acids that the human body needs. It is well known for its ability to provide support for the natural immune defences, be a useful aid to digestion and has special properties to support the environment for the body's own healing process. Manuka honey has one unique natural factor called “Unique Manuka Factor” (UMF®). This highly stabilized factor cannot be found in other types of honey and has been found only in New Zealand Manuka flowers. The index of UMF® reflects its efficacy. UMF® index usually ranges from 5+ to 20+. Consumers should pay attention if the UMF® value is clearly marked on the label. The UMF® label must be authorized by the UMF Honey Association after rigorous test assessment before it goes onto the UMF® index label.

It has a white color, smooth texture, rich flavor and sweet aroma. This nutritious honey also helps to aid detoxification, moistening, improve rough skin, maintain intestinal health, eliminate fatigue and help with throat discomfort.
